Ecuador: fires reach within 2 kilometers of Cotopaxi National Park

Eluniverso.com reported that the Natural Heritage own secretary, Tania Villegas, some 20 rangers commanded an operation to prevent the flames from reaching the Cotopaxi National Park (CNP). The official said the fire has not reached the PNC protected areas, reserves the Bowling and the Los Ilinizas but are grasslands that are in the buffer zone (outside the park boundaries).”We’ve had fires about 2 km from the park, the fire is on the outskirts … We are interested in spaces around the park are the least affected to avoid problems with the animals, vegetation. ” He explained that these fires are caused by humans.
