Ecuador drafts law to fight biopiracy

The President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, announced that the country already has a draft law for the protection, promotion and preservation of the ancestral knowledge of the country’s biodiversity, which will face the biopiracy.
Biopiracy is a practice whereby researchers or companies illegally used the biodiversity of developing countries and the collective knowledge of indigenous peoples and peasants to produce products and services that are operated commercial and / or industrially without the permission of their creators and innovators.
