Crisis in North America contributes to migration of retirees to Cuenca Ecuador

The Central Dossier is an investigation conducted in the southern part of Ecuador which highlights how North socioeconomic changes strongly affect the decision of older Americans moving to live in Cuenca or other Andean cities and small towns. A U.S. and Canadian crisis should join a growing market that offer retirement in the Andes as an alternative that allows this type of migrants maintain their standard of living, which their countries of origin and can not guarantee, and reside in a place which apparently gives them a healthier life, quiet, and an ‘authentic’ ethnic-cultural experience.
