Crime in Cuenca Ecuador

According to tuseguridad.ec, there are three areas of Cuenca, Ecuador where murder offenses, illegal drug sales, and robberies are prevalent, and demonstrate the insecurity of the city. The areas identified are Cayambe, La Merced, and the bus terminal.

Cayambe – Between February and June there have been six murders. These offenses involved drug sales and turf wars between gangs. There is high incidents of vacant lots and brothels.

La Merced and the bus terminal are other areas of conflict. These three sectors are in the city center and most cases of theft, assault and drug sales is recorded at night. In its vicinity are liquor stores, bars, restaurants, hotels and entertainment centers. Read Article
