Costa Rica: 24 “Violent” Deaths Recorded So Far This Semana Santa

Authorities in Costa Rica that include the Cruz Roja (Red Cross), the Policia de Transito (traffic police) and the Fuerza Pública (police) had hoped for a calm and fatality free holiday week. However, that has not been the case. With still two days to go, the death toll for the Semana Santa (Holy Week) to officially end, the Cruz Roja reports 24 people have died “violently” during the week that started last Sunday and yesterday (Friday) at 4pm.
