Costa Rica: 224 kilos of cocaine seized in cargo of candy

The Drug Control Police of Costa Rica (PCD) seized 224 kilos of cocaine hidden in a shipment of candy transported in a truck, whose driver was arrested is from Guatemala, officials said.

The discovery was made late on Tuesday in Peñas Blancas border with Nicaragua during a routine inspection conducted by the PCD’s truck license plate was from Honduras and Panama, said in a statement security minister, Mario Zamora .

The vehicle trying to cross the border into Nicaragua and was led by a Guatemalan Pacheco surname Godoy, 51, who was detained and will face charges of international drug trafficking, crime in Costa Rica is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Read Article
