Comando Vermelho Members Detained on the Paraguay-Brazil Border

May 22, 2013- According to lainformacion.com, Paraguayan police arrested 5 members of the Brazilian criminal organization, Comando Vermelho in the Bella Vista Norte zone of the department of Amambay on May 21, 2013. Agents of the Paraguayan National Anti-drug Secretariat (Senad) carried out the arrests with the collaboration of the Paraguayan Military and the Brazilian Federal Police. One of the detained was Brazilian and has criminal records for murder. The other four are Paraguayan, but Senad considers them “brasiguayos” as they speak perfect Portuguese and have Brazilian residency papers, which are easy to acquire in the border region according to authorities. Authorities seized 3 military grade rifles, 3 pistols, a shotgun, a rifle, a revolver, and cartridges of various calibers.
