Colombian Los Rastrojos gang infiltrated by police, leads to arrests

Police have successfully infiltrated the Colombian Los Rastrojos gang, which led to several recent arrests of central leaders and members, as well as the seizure of weapons and illegal materials. Authorities had been working for several months to investigate the structure of criminal gangs, El Heraldo reports. Their intelligence led to the capture of 15 people on the night of June 3, 2012. In another recent operation on June 6 in Palo Alto, police seized several illegal weapons, including AK 47s, and arrested Luis Gardenio Medrano Silgado. The seized weapons were intended for exclusive use of the Armed Forces in Colombia. Colonel Orlando Polo Bishop of the Sucre police stated that the police had received information concerning strange movements of individuals, which aided the investigation. Read Article
