Colombia: University student caught in airport attempting to traffick drugs

Héctor Fabio Carvajal Zapata, 37, student at the Universidad Libre, was caught in the Matecaña airport in Colombia for attempting to traffick drugs. The anti-narcotics police in Pereira surprised him at the airport where he intended to fly with 57 packages of cocaine to the San Andrés Island, The Archipielago Press reports. The drugs were discovered when security officials asked Carvajal to register the three boxes with which he wished to fly. He stated they contained egg onions. Soon after, the drugs, weighing 55.886 grams, were found. Carvajal is charged with trafficking, possession, and manufacturing drugs. Read Article
