Colombia: Military Expenditures of 2010 Reach 21 Billion Pesos
• A report by elespectador.com reports that 90% of that amount was spent on operation alone with the other 10% going to investment.
• That 10% bought the Colombian army, navy, air force and the police force equipment, transportation, and weapons.
• The official report from the Colombian government states that the investments are meant to modernize the armed forces.
• The investments were based in the areas of: mobility, intelligence, standing army and strategic capacities according to the report.
• The report says that expenditures follow the goals set by the Policy of Consolidation of Security and Defense and promoted transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness.
• The Santos administration is expected to spend 19.05 Billion pesos for peace (14.89 billion for democratic security and 4.10 for justice) according to the Congress approved National Development Plan. JR (Read Article)
