Colombia: According to UN, farmers remove road blocks in seven departments

Bogotá. – Farmers who last August 19 went on strike today unblocked roads seven departments of Colombia after the agreement reached with the government on Sunday, according to an investigation carried out by the UN in the country.

The peasants organized in the National Agricultural Bureau and People’s Dialogue and Agreement (MIA) held locks in the departments of Cauca, Huila, Nariño (southwest), Caquetá, Putumayo (south), Tolima and Meta, in the center.

Under the deal reached on Sunday by farmers, the national government and the governors of these departments, the locks were completed no later, at 12:00 local time on Tuesday (19:00 GMT). Read Article
