Colombia: 1,215 women murdered in 2011

The 1215 killings of women in 2011 are clear evidence of the difficult and worrying situation facing the female gender in Colombia. This is a very negative balance, even though last year there were 229 fewer crimes than in 2010, as shown in a report released by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.

The figures show that women also die violently from causes other than homicide, excelling in the latter ranking traffic incidents where 1,021 women died, to which are added the 585 deaths from other accidents. Read Article
