Chile, increase in meningitis cases over last three months

Concern exists between the health authorities of the country given the increase in cases of meningitis have been recorded over the past three months.

Meningococcal meningitis detected mutation would serotypes known to date in Chile and is called W135, bacteria commonly circulating in other countries. The people most at risk are children under 4 years.

The largest number of cases has been reported mainly in the capital and so far 16 deaths are associated with the disease. Read Article
