Central Leader of Los Rastrojos Gang Captured in Colombia

According to El Colombiano on May 22, 2012, a man with the alias ‘Tetero’ (26) has been captured in the Bello municipality of the Bajo Cauca region in Colombia. Tetero is reported to be the third-highest leader of the Los Rastrojos criminal group and is responsible for at least 15 homicides. Tetero had moved to Bello in order to evade capture. Other members of Los Rastrojos were also apprehended in 2012, including two men with the aliases ‘Johnny’ and ‘Nanín.’ These captures emerge out of increased Colombian efforts to eliminate criminal gang activities in the country. These efforts, named ‘Operation Troy,’ have led to the capture of 401 gang members and the seizure of 457 rifles and 857 handguns so far. Read Article
