Central America main route, warehouse for drug trafficking; Creole groups emerge

Countries in Central America are increasingly being used as drug warehouses and routes toward Mexico. From Mexico, drug traffickers transport their merchandise into the United States. This increase in activity in Central America has led to the emergence of native “Creole” organizations that participate in local trafficking, 24 Horas reports. Colombian narco-traffickers are mainly responsible for transporting drugs into the Central America region. Recently, reports of drug activity have surged, leading officials to conclude countries in Central America are being used as vital drug passageways.
