Calf cloned in Argentina will produce milk similar to a human mother

The first calf in the world cloned with 2 human genes, Rosita ISA, is expected to give milk similar to that of a human mothers, according to scientists from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Agropecuaria in Argentina who worked together to clone the cow. Rosita was born in April of 2011 in Balcarce city and will begin giving milk in about 10 months, per hoy.com.ed. The goal of the project was to raise the nutritional level of cow milk and the presumption is that Rosita’s milk will contain human lactoferrin and lysozyme, 2 proteins that have a large impact on an infant’s immune system.
