Brazil, Peru attempting to block Amazon.com from registering .amazon top level domain

Brazil and Peru are attempting to block online retailer Amazon.com Inc. from acquiring new internet domains using the name of the world’s greatest tropical rain forest. The two South American countries have lodged a formal complaint with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the Los Angeles-based nonprofit private organization that oversees the assignment of new web addresses.
