Brazil: Launch of Operation Ágata 7 to Patrol Entire Border reported on May 20, 2103, Operation Ágata 7; consisting of 25,000 militants to patrol the entire Brazilian border. Numerous government agencies such as the Federal Highway Police, Internal Revenue Service, and the Brazilian Intelligence Agency, will work together in this operation to patrol and combat cross-border crimes such as arms and ammunition trafficking, drug trafficking, and illegal immigration. In addition, the launch of Operation Ágata 7 will provide social services to those in need. The operation was created by President Dilma in 2011 and is considered the largest mobilization by the government to fight off illicit activity along the border. Read Article
