Brazil: Federal Police Concludes Operation Ajubá, Routs Drug Gang in Paraná

On January 9, 2013, the Brazilian Federal Police (Polícia Federal) concluded a massive anti-drug campaign in the state of Paraná, Operation Ajubá.  Over six months of investigation, Federal Police seized four tons of marijuana, 136 kilograms of cocaine and 336 bottles of inhalants.  They also arrested ten people:  eight men, two women.  The gang maintained contact points on the western border of Paraná, in the cities of Ciudad del Leste, Foz de Iguaçu and Santa Terezinha de Itaipu.  The group transported the drugs through car tires and false bottoms in their cars.  The drugs were primarily dealt in the southern region and São Paulo.  Read Article
