Brazil: Brazilian and Peruvian Police Join Forces to Remove Cocaine Laboratories

Terra reported on September 13, 2013 that the Brazilian Federal Police and the National Police of Peru agreed to join forces to find and remove cocaine production laboratories in the Peruvian Amazon. Police report “Operation Trapeze” will discover 15 hidden laboratories that can produce up to 10 tons of cocaine a year. Last year, the same operation discovered 12 laboratories that produced around 7 tons of cocaine that year. Plantations of cocoa leaves in Peru help supply the production of cocaine in these laboratories. The program is a means to secure border concerns and control international drug trafficking.
