Argentina: Highest alcohol consuming nation in South America

The World Health Organization released recent figures placing Argentina, Guyana and Ecuador as the top three alcohol consuming nations in South America, according to andes.inco.ec. The report shows that the average person over 15 in the Americas consumes 8.7 liters of alcohol per year, 40% more that the global average of 6.2 liters a year.

Argentines consume 10 liters a year, citizens of Guyana 9.5 liters and Ecuadorians 9.4 liters, the same as the United States.

Bolivia (5.1 liters), Surinam (6.1 liters), and Colombia (6.2 liters) are the countries that consume the least amount of alcohol in South America. Read Article
