The Argentine government announced yesterday that it is releasing 450 thousand tons of wheat from the export surplus for domestic use, reports lanueva.com. The ministers of economy and of agriculture, livestock and fisheries made the announcement yesterday, explaining that 150 thousand tons will go to Entre Ríos and the rest will be split between Santa Fe and Buenos Aires province. The total wheat production for the year is estimated at 14.7 million tons with 6.5 million tons for domestic use, 600 thousand for seed and the remainder for export. Some farmers have yet to report their production numbers, and so far have not reached the quota to make up for the extra wheat released to the provinces. Officials say they have until the end of August to declare their production.
