Findings were published last week as the 0800 Sexual Health Hotline in Argentina hit its one year anniversary. Launched on May 27, 2010 under the Program for Sexual Health and Responsible Procreation by the Ministry of Health, the hotline serves as a portal for questions and concerns involving anything having to do with sex and sexual health. The annual report shows that the hotline received over 4000 inquiries, 65% of which were made by women and only 26.5% by men, according to misionesonline.net. 80% of questions regarding sexual violence were submitted by women. The Ministry of Health is optimistic about the long-term effects the hotline will have in the country in regards to opening people up to discussing sex education whether it be with the hotline or among friends and family. It hopes more men will utilize their services.
