According to Teleamazonas.com Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa announced Saturday June 18th that Ecuador is conducting negotiation with Peru on an agreement about the issue of cell phone theft. The agreement is going to combat the theft of cell phones and the activation of phones in neighboring countries. Ecuador and Colombia already have an agreement on cell phone theft and Peru is another country that phones are stolen from and receives stolen phones. Therefore, according to Correa, an agreement with Peru will help combat the theft of cell phones. Correa says that in Ecuador cell phone theft is increasing and that important government “shots” will be made to make cell phones harder to steal. Reportedly, Colombia and Ecuador have agreed to share mobile phone databases so that stolen phones cannot be activated or marketed in either nation.Read Article
