Argentina, southern town a disaster area due to Puyehue ash

Jorge Sapag, the governor of Neuquén province in the south of Argentina, has declared the town of Villa La Angostura a disaster area and in a state of economic and social emergency, according to infobae.com. The city has been covered in volcanic ash since the eruption of Chilean volcano, Puyehue, on June 4 and the situation worsened last night due to heavy rainfall and a new wave of ash from the volcano. The town has been without power for a week, all schools have been shut down and the roads are clogged. After last night the city’s power lines have completely collapsed and clean drinking water is scarce. Sapag and other authorities are working on a solution to combat the crisis.
