Mexico City, Mexico: Man Claims Prison Sentence Punishment for Denouncing Human Traffickers

On August 22, 2013 Yucatanall Noticias reported the case of David Mondragón Zamora who has been imprisoned since 2010 on charges of extortion and sexual abuse. Mondragón Zamora has since appealed his sentence, claiming the charges were an act of political vengeance after he accused local authorities of sexually exploiting women and children. It is worth noting that the female sex workers who testified against Mondragón Zamora for sexual abuse provided false names and addresses, and that several of the police officers who arrested him are currently serving prison sentences for kidnapping.
