Belem, Brazil: Family Members Detained for Drug Trafficking Activity Between Colombia and Brazil

Globo reported on June 27, 2013 that Federal and Civil Police detained six people from the same family in Belem, accused of international drug trafficking. The investigation began in October 2012 in which police confirm the drugs were stored on an island about 40 minutes from Belem. Members of this family were arrested before in November 2007 when 129 kg of cocaine was transported to Tabatinga from Colombia. Police confirm the drug route of this international drug trafficking activity begins in Colombia. The drug arrives in Tabatinga, Brazil and is then shipped to Manaus and eventually Pará where the drug is kept on the island nearby. Read Article
