Brazil: Federal Accountability Office Expels 4,000 Public Servants Since 2003

On January 21, 2013, Estado de Minas reported that the federal Controller’s Office counted over 1,400 cases of administrative abuse over the past ten years, leading to the dismissal of over 4,000 employees in that same time period.  The office also recorded 158 cases of illegal public appointments.  The Controller’s Office oversees all activity done by federal employees.  Although one employee could have committed more than one illicit act, the office could not comment on how many employees were convicted in multiple cases.  Read Article
