Narco-trafficker caught in Peru; Owned cocaine processing factories

Alcides Gamio Mallqui (44), one of the most wanted narco-traffickers in Peru, also known as Jaime Gamio, was arrested in Tingo María. He was wanted for trafficking over 500 kilos of drugs each month, RPP Noticias reports. His principle areas of operation included Caunarapa, Chipaco, and Maravilla. The suspect also constructed his own cocaine processing factories in inaccessible areas. Officials believe he had connection to drug trafficking organizations in Mexico and Colombia. To transport drugs, he would used paths through the jungles that are often used by mules and assassins. Read Article
