Increase in Illegal Drugs Transported Through U.S. Mail

•Due to the increase in security on the U.S. – Mexico border, there has been an increase in the transport of illegal drugs transported through the U.S. Mail per elespectador.com.
•Marijuana and cocaine have been detected and seized in the mail.
•In the U.S., 10, 786 kilos of marijuana have been seized from mail in the first part of 2011.
•As far as cocaine is concerned, 197 kilos have been seized from the mail so far in 2011.
•The drugs are hidden in packets stored in mailed boxes. The packets containing marijuana are covered in fabric softener to hide the scent of the drug. Read Article
