La Merced, Peru: Underground Prostitution in Illegal Bars, Taverns

DiarioCorreo.pe reports that in the city of Merced is being overrun by illegal bars and taverns that have led to an underground ring of underage prostitution. The sector of Pampa El Carmen houses many of these businesses, especially in front of the municipal stadium. In the three-block sector, Diario Correo reports there are more than 30 bars and taverns, frequented by minors. Diario Correo adds that many of the businesses have the protection of government workers for the Provincial Municipality of Chanchamayo, since none of the businesses have received any sanctions.Read Article
