Yasuni National Park Ecuador: Authorities seize nearly 500 pounds of protected fish, alligator meat

Ecuavisa.com reported that 476 pounds of meat and 44 pounds paiche alligator meat were seized by the Ministry of Environment on 24 September. This after one of the control and surveillance operations that are performed permanently in the Yasuni National Park. After several complaints from the public about illegal execution within the protected area, the MAE control intensified in the area, in order to identify the alleged offenders and orders them to competent authorities. The action occurred when a boat in the Yasuní River clandestinamnete was about to leave. The staff who was serving guard arrested control vessels and their crews for review and registration. The first boat was found paiche meat, and the second vessel manned by a person, were transported to three species of caiman. Read Article
