UNESCO suggests emergency measures to protect Machu Picchu

The mission of Unesco , consisting of five experts who evaluated the preservation and conservation of the archaeological park of Machu Picchu , suggested Thursday that emergency measures are in place in the buffer zone of the sanctuary and the people known as Aguas Calientes .

Nuria Sanz, head for Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO, said the purpose of the visit, held between Monday and Wednesday, was collaborating with the Peruvian authorities to find the best solution to preserve the outstanding universal value and Machu Picchu. Read Article
