U.S. shares little information with Central American counterparts regarding deportees

United States and Central America did not sufficiently inform each other hundreds of criminals who are deported to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador each year, contributing to increased violence in the region on Monday raised U.S. experts. “We can do much more about sharing information when reporting on their records,” said Michael Shifter, a professor at Georgetown University in Washington during a panel discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations (“Council of Foreign Relations “, in English) in Manhattan.We have heard many complaints that many are simply sent back and this causes an enormous strain on a system that is problematic,” said Shifter, who also chairs the Inter-American Dialogue, a think tank in Washington on issues affecting the Western Hemisphere.
