Tres Arroyos, Argentina: Suspect Arrest for Human Trafficking

On August 16, 2013 Informate Acá reported the arrest of an adult male on charges of
human trafficking. The arrest of the suspect, whose identity has yet to be revealed, is closely connected to the July 4 police raid on the “Coquetas” cabaret. Eight women, mostly from Paraguay, were rescued during the July raid.

According to Justice Bernardo Bibel, the establishment was legally operating as a brothel and the rescued women were all of legal age. The cabaret is not being investigated for commercial sex but rather with the way the victims were obtained, by capture and fraud, and later transported to the bar for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
