Toyota halts production in Argentina, Brazil

Toyota factories in Brazil and Argentina will shut down for three days in June due to a parts shortage from Japan as a result of the massive March earthquake. The site in Sao Paulo that produces Corolla sedans will stop business on June 27. The factory in Buenos Aires that produces the Hilux pickup truck and the SW4 will shut down on June 17 and 24. This adjustment will not affect the employment status of the 7,100 people employed by Toyota in both countries, according to reuters.com. A production schedule for after June 30 has not yet been decided on.
