Teenagers Apprehended after Murdering Policeman in Fortaleza, Brazil

On January 14, 2013, Diário do Nordeste reported that three teenagers were arrested after killing a policeman, Francisco Luis Granjeiro, on Saturday.  The murder occurred in Jangurussu, a neighborhood in Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará.  The policeman was on break Saturday morning when the teenagers accosted him, seeking to steal his motorcycle.  Before he could produce his revolver, he was shot three times, once in the neck.  Granjeiro was taken to a local hospital, where he later died of the injuries he sustained.  The boys have been held since this morning at the local Children’s and Adolescents’ Division of the Fortaleza police.  Read Article
