A suspected narco-trafficker was shot by a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) official during a raid in a small village in Honduras. According to DEA spokesperson Dawn Dearden, this is the first time an official has killed someone since the agency began sending support to aid local security forces in Latin America, El Informador reports. 792 pounds of cocaine were seized during the operation. The cocaine arrived in the location via clandestine airstrip around midnight on June 23, 2012. The agent shot the suspect in self defense after seeing the suspect attempt to remove a gun from its holster. There were four arrests during the operation, including the pilot. Six other suspects were later taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing. Read Article
