Surviving insecurity, a challenge for Venezuelans

Foreign diplomats or working class Venezuelans are equally victims of so-called ‘express kidnappings’, a form of theft also known in other Latin American cities, where armed criminals kidnap their victims to take to the nearest ATM to steal as much cash.

In the midst of a long list of problems, including a double-digit inflation, a large fiscal deficit, or the decay of roads and oil insecurity is arguably the main shortcoming of the government of President Hugo Chavez died.
