Strike ends on Panama Canal expansion

Workers who work in the project to expand the Panama Canal on Saturday called off the strike held for six days to get a wage increase, union sources said.

“The strike ended on Monday,” he told AFP Genaro Lopez, leader of SUNTRACS, the powerful union Panamanian construction.

“It has concluded an agreement with workers who work in the Construction Project Third Set of Locks Canal, which has put an end to the labor conflict (…) workers resumed their normal duties on Monday 23,” said consortium in a statement on United for the Canal.

“Once again it is demonstrated that the struggle of the workers is not in vain and improving their living and working conciones” he told AFP Saul Mendez, general secretary of SUNTRACS. Read Article
