Soccer Jerseys Serve as Method of Drug Concealment in Peru

The Diario Correo in Peru reports police discovered and intercepted the shipment of cocaine-impregnated soccer jerseys from Lima to a possible foreign destination. 12 Jerseys were found with approximately 368 grams, or $60 thousand (currency is Nuevo Sol) worth of cocaine stitched into the logo. The jerseys bore the Alianza Lima team logo and were found in a package left at the Katella Travel Agency in Lince. The merchandise was left by a woman identified as Roxana Castro Alvarez; however, the police claim the copy of her identity card left at the agency did not correspond to the actual deliverer. The criminal organization Los Futbolistas del Rímac is thought to be behind the operation. Investigations continue. Read Article
