According to ElUniverso.com the major market of Ambato is worried about the shortages of products causing prices to rise and buyers to disappear. Sanchez blames the falling ash from the Tungurahua volcano that has caused pea bushes to burn and created bad harvests. The price for peas has doubled in the past two months from $50 -$60 per two bushels to $120. Garlic is experiencing a similar phenomenon, however the price increase is due to the Colombian integration of their garlic in Ecuador.Read Article
