Shining Path (Sendero Luminoso) Leader Captured by Peruvian Government

Peruvian Defense Minister Alberto Otárola, announced the capture of Jose E. Flores Hala, aka “Artemio”, the leader of the Maoist Sendero Luminoso. ‘Artemio’ would have been caught near the town of Tocache, San Martin (north) and had to receive medical care, as it is badly hurt. Otárola detailed in comments reported by the official news agency, Andina, the leader of the guerrilla group has lost virtually an arm because of gunshot wounds during the confrontation with security forces. The defense minister has indicated that the capture of Artemio was made possible by a joint operation between the National Police and the Peruvian Army. Read Article
