Sanofi announces dengue vaccine effective against three types of dengue

French pharmaceutical group Sanofi’s announced today that its dengue vaccine is effective against three of the four existing types of the disease in a clinical trial in Thailand. The study, conducted in collaboration with Mahidol University with support from the Thai Ministry of Health, was tested with 4,002 children aged four to eleven years, after following the six month treatment, generated antibodies to the four types of the condition and immunized three. Although detailed results are being reviewed by clinical experts and will be announced to the scientific community in the coming months, the company announced that the first conclusions about the vaccine tested reveal a level of safety to human health “excellent”.
