San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas: 15 Sex Trafficking Victims Rescued, 2 Arrested

On August 26, 2013 NSS Chiapas Noticias reported the rescue of fifteen female sex trafficking victims from Honduras, Nicaragua and Mexico. The women had been forced into prostitution at different bars in Pijijiapan Township, located on the coast of Chiapas. Authorities also found the women living in unsanitary and inhumane conditions. During the operation, police arrested Amado Romero Cruz and Fabiola Medina Cruz on charges of human trafficking in the form of sexual and labor exploitation, as well as for sanitation violations.
