Physicians in Ecuador concerned over malpractice courts and the penal code

ecuadortimes.net reported last Tuesday in Quito, doctors and medical students marched to ask the Judicial Council to prepare judges to judge their cases and to reject the twelve-month sentence of imprisonment imposed on one of their colleagues.

Victor Alvarez, vice president of the Medical Federation, said that his colleagues remain concerned about how judges will interpret the law when judging by malpractice using the Integral Penal Code. “Is a judge with a course of 180 days of training on the matter, capable of judging a medical practice?
