According to ElComercio.com Peru faces a temporary energy deficit in 2012 and could ask Ecuador for help in importing electricity in the northern regions of Peru. The Minister of Energy and Mining, Pedro Sanchez made this announcement on Tuesday, July 19th. Officials say energy cuts are due to problems of drought and lack of rain.
