Peru, Municipal Authority Arrested for Illegal Logging in Bolivia

Bolivia.com reports that the offices of Amazon Command Staff and officers of the Control Authority and Social Control of Forests and Land arrested a Peruvian municipal authority on charges of illegal logging in Bolivia. The Agency of Development for Macroregions and Borders reports that the operation was conducted with the boarder community of the Manuripi province in the department of Pando in Bolivia. During the operation, Justiniano Diaz Quispe was arrested, reportedly standing next to newly harvested timber. Police added that Quispe was working on a path to provide vehicles access to the timber for transportation to other areas in Peru. Quispe is part of a group that has been associated with illegal logging for some time. Read Article
