Peru, Machu Picchu weather warnings

1. Eleven regions of Peru have been alerted to continued and heavy rains.
2. On Monday morning there was a landslide on the part of the railway between Cusco and Machu Picchu. It was cleared in the afternoon.
3. RPP.com.pe reported that there were also other landslides on the track reported Monday night which have been cleared, allowing normalcy of the train running.
4. There are warnings that with continued rain there may be more landslides which can affect traffic to and from Machu Picchu.
5. Alternative routes to Machu Picchu taken by tourists have been blocked by mud and rocks. These include Santa Teresa, Santa Maria and the backdoor approach Hidroelectrica. Dozens of tourists were impacted by these blockages.
