Peru: leptospirosis spreading due to flooding

Three people have died this year in the Peruvian jungle for leptospirosis, an infectious disease spread by flooding experienced by the region, Efe reported a source in the Regional Health Authority (Diresa) of Loreto. In February passed a 9-year-old man in March 64 and on Wednesday another 32 years for leptospirosis, the source said, a disease whose initial symptoms fever, chills, headache and muscle inflammation eyes and stomach upset, among others. “Right now we have two people hospitalized with leptospirosis in hospitals (City) Iquitos, a child who is out of danger and an adult who is under observation … not as dengue fever we have 150 hospitalized in a day, “said the source.
